Drivers: find, create, import

Pick a driver#

   Open the picker

   Select an enclosure and click the Driver box in the Driver panel. With no driver chosen it reads Select a driver. Add enclosure has the same picker.

   Search

   Type a brand or model, for example 12.00SW. Results come in two groups: Your drivers (your own and your favourites) and Catalogue. Before you type, the picker shows Recent, Your drivers and a few catalogue drivers.

   Pick one

   Click a row to put it on the enclosure. Each row shows the model, brand, nominal impedance and size; the star makes it a favourite, listed under Your drivers from then on.

The line under the search box counts the catalogue, your favourites and your imports, and says syncing while the catalogue refreshes. The catalogue is the online 00 Bits library. A driver you pick is saved with your workspace, so share links and your assistant see the same values.

Search and filter#

Browse all, beside the counts, opens Advanced driver search: a table of every driver with filters down the side. It lists the catalogue’s low-frequency drivers, your own drivers and your favourites.

• Each slider covers the range of the drivers in view; drag either end to narrow it. Reset filters puts them all back.
• Include online drivers switches the catalogue in or out. Off, the table shows only your drivers and favourites.
• Show invalid T/S params also lists catalogue drivers whose parameters do not check out. They are hidden by default.
• Results are grouped under Favourites, My imports and Catalogue, with columns for size, impedance, Fs, Qts, Vas, BL, Sd and Xmax. Click a row to pick it.

Create a custom driver#

When your driver is not in the library, click Create custom driver at the foot of the picker. The Component library opens on four ways to add one:

   Enter manually

   Choose Enter manually. Fill in Brand and Model, then the parameters. Required ones are marked with an asterisk.

   Let the form fill the rest

   The required parameters are Re, Fs, Qts, Vas, Znom, BL, Qes, Xmax, plus Sd or Dd. Fields the form can work out from the others fill themselves in, marked with a calculator and auto; click one to type your own value. Hover a label for what it means and what it is worked out from.

   Choose a layout

   Mode: at the top switches between Required first and Grouped (electrical, mechanical, Q factors, physical).

   Create it

   Click Create. The driver joins your library and goes on the enclosure you started from.

Paste T/S parameters from a datasheet#

   Paste the text

   Choose Paste T/S params and paste the parameters as text, straight from a datasheet or a web page. The order does not matter.

   Extract

   Click Extract params. The app lists how many values it found. A number with no unit is read in the unit most datasheets use: litres for Vas, cm² for Sd, mm for Xmax, grams for Mms and mH for Le.

   Review any mismatch

   If some values disagree with each other, a warning offers Review: approve the corrections you want, then Apply approved fixes.

   Finish in the form

   Click Populate editor. The values land in the same form as Enter manually; add Brand and Model, check the rest, and click Create.

Here the check catches the slip: Qms and Qes give a Qts of 0.289, not 0.92. Hover the proposed value in the app to see the sum it comes from.

Import driver files#

• Import driver file (marked Beta) reads WinISD .wdr files and 00 Simulator’s own .00dvr files. Drop them on the box or click it to browse; you can bring in several at once. The app lists what it imported and anything that failed.
• Import UniBox opens Import from Unibox for a Unibox spreadsheet (.xlsx or .xls). Pick the sheet (the likely one is marked Detected), click Continue, then tick what to bring in under Enclosures, Drivers and PRs, and click Import selected. Enclosures go into your open workspace.
• The same imports are under Import on the My drivers tab of the library: Driver file (.wdr, .00dvr) and Unibox (.xlsx).

To send your drivers the other way, as .00dvr or WinISD .wdr files, use Export in the library: Import and export.

Edit a driver’s T/S parameters#

   Open the editor

   With a driver on the enclosure, click Edit T/S beside Driver in the Driver panel. Edit T/S parameters opens with the same form.

   Change and save

   Change what you need and save. Save modified driver asks where the change goes, with a Driver name to confirm.

   Overwrite or save as new

   For a driver of your own, Overwrite updates it in every enclosure that uses it; Save as new driver makes a new one and leaves the old alone. A catalogue driver cannot be overwritten, so your changes become a new custom driver.

Whichever you choose, the saved driver goes on the enclosure. If the name you give would replace another of your drivers, or take this one away from other enclosures, the dialog warns you and offers a one-click fix.

When the values disagree#

T/S parameters depend on each other, so a typo or a rounded datasheet shows up as a mismatch. When the driver on an enclosure has one, a warning under the picker counts the values that do not match, with a Review button.

   Review

   Click Review. Review loaded driver values lists each suspect value with its Current and Proposed figures; hover the proposal for the sum behind it.

   Approve

   Every correction starts approved. Untick Approve on any value you want to keep as it is; Clear all and Approve all switch them all at once.

   Apply

   For your own driver, Apply to custom driver corrects it in place. For a catalogue driver, Save corrected custom copy saves a corrected copy to your library and puts it on the enclosure; the catalogue is left as it is.

Manage your library#

Manage library, at the foot of the picker, and Settings › Drivers… in the header open the Component library. It has tabs for Drivers and Passive radiators. Under Drivers are the 00 Bits library and your own drivers (My drivers), each with a count.

• Search either list. Your own list also filters and sorts, and has Import, Export and Create.
• Use on any driver offers Create new enclosure, or Add to enclosure with a list of the enclosures in your workspace.
• Your own drivers have edit and delete buttons. The star on a library driver makes it a favourite.
• Signed in, your drivers are saved to your account, up to 1,000 of them, and follow you to every workspace. As a guest they are kept in this browser.
