Overview

Enclosure limits have been made much more generous so sub-liter enclosures, small ports, and very large systems (e.g. multi-driver arrays) are supported. Graph Y-axis controls have been added for manual or auto-scaling of each graph.

Changes

  • Box volume: Minimum reduced from 1 L to 0.01 L (10 mL); maximum increased from 1,000 L to 100,000 L.
  • Port diameter/width and height: Minimum reduced from 25 mm to 1 mm; maximum increased from 500 mm to 10,000 mm.
  • Driver displacement and bracing: Maximum increased from 50 L to 1,000 L.
  • Effective volume floor: Lowered so sub-liter effective volumes are allowed while still avoiding zero/negative values.
  • Sealed box Qtc: Now displays system Q factor (Qtc) for sealed enclosures, helping users understand damping characteristics (overdamped, critically damped, underdamped).
  • Graph Y-axis settings: Each graph now has a settings cog that allows switching between Auto (lenient bounds-checking that adjusts to data) and Manual mode (user-defined min/max range). Settings are persisted per graph in local storage.
  • Improved auto-scaling: Auto mode uses lenient thresholds to avoid jarring visual changes while still adapting when data approaches limits. SPL graphs have a 70dB lower limit in auto mode to avoid showing deep bass roll-off.
  • Dynamic axis labels: Y-axis labels now always cover the full range, including when custom manual bounds are set.
  • Checkbox visibility: Improved contrast of unchecked checkboxes in light mode.
  • EQ panel redesign: Unified filter list with single "Add Filter" dropdown. High-pass, low-pass, and parametric EQ filters now share one compact list instead of separate category cards.
  • Advanced power options: New "Advanced" panel in the bottom bar exposes series resistance (cable/amp output resistance, default 0.1Ω) and displays calculated driver voltage based on power and DC resistance (Re).
  • Results moved to sidebar: Simulation results (F3, F10, Max SPL, sensitivity, excursion, etc.) are now in a collapsible "Results" accordion in the right panel instead of the bottom bar.
  • Driver count limit increased: Maximum drivers per enclosure raised from 10 to 50 to support large multi-driver arrays.

Overview

This release adds effective enclosure volume calculation

Effective Enclosure Volume Calculation

Thanks to gnkaudio for the suggestion!

Account for internal volume losses to get more accurate simulations:

  • Volume Adjustments panel: Expandable section below Box Volume to configure displacement
  • Driver displacement: Enter the volume displaced by driver(s) inside the enclosure
  • Port volume: Automatically calculated based on port dimensions (vented enclosures)
  • Bracing/other: Enter additional volume for bracing, handles, or other internal items
  • Effective volume display: Shows the net volume used for simulation with displacement %
  • Toggle on/off: Enable when you want accurate results, disable for quick estimates
  • Works for all enclosure types: Both sealed and vented simulations use effective volume

Technical Details

Effective Volume Calculation

When enabled, the simulator automatically subtracts:

  • Driver displacement (volume taken up by the driver inside the box)
  • Port volume (internal space occupied by the port tube)
  • Additional displacement (bracing, handles, or other internal components)

The resulting effective volume is used for all simulation calculations.

Overview

This release adds imperial unit support, significantly improves the user experience when entering Thiele-Small parameters, and increases limits for longer ports and higher tuning frequencies.

New Features

Imperial Units Support

Thanks to r/Mr-BPM for the suggestion!

  • Settings cog: New settings button in the header to switch between metric and imperial units
  • Volume unit toggle: Click the unit next to Box Volume to cycle through L → cm³ → m³ → ft³
  • Length unit toggle: Click units next to port dimensions to cycle through mm → cm → in
  • Persistent settings: Your unit preferences are saved and restored on next visit
  • Note: Excursion values always display in mm for precision

Enhanced T/S Parameter Input

Thanks to Ron E @ DiyAudio for the suggestion!

  • Text-based inputs: Switched from number inputs to text inputs with decimal keyboard support, allowing easier entry of scientific notation (e.g., 3.9e-4) and precise values
  • Inline validation: Real-time validation with error messages displayed next to each field
  • 2-column layout: More compact form layout fits more parameters on screen without scrolling
  • Improved tabbing: Unit toggle buttons no longer interrupt tab navigation between fields
  • Scientific notation in tooltips: Parameter descriptions now display proper subscripts and symbols

Smarter Auto-Derivation

  • Multi-pass derivation: The derivation engine now runs multiple passes to resolve complex dependency chains
  • New derivation: Cms from Vas + Sd: Can now derive compliance from equivalent volume and radiating area
  • Cascading calculations: Enter Vas, Sd, Fs, Qms, Qes, and Re to automatically derive Cms, Mms, Qts, Bl, and Rms
  • Bidirectional clearing: Changing a derived parameter (like Sd) now clears related fields (like Dd) so they can re-derive

Improvements

Increased Limits

  • Tuning frequency: Increased max from 100Hz to 200Hz for midrange and smaller enclosures
  • Port dimensions: Increased port diameter/width limit from 300mm to 500mm to allow for longer calculated port lengths up to ~1m

Better Form Layout

  • Compact parameter sections: Electrical, Mechanical, Q Factors, and Physical parameters organized in grid layouts
  • Inline labels: Labels positioned to the left of inputs for a cleaner look
  • Consistent styling: Brand, Model, and Notes fields now match the parameter input styling

Technical Details

The derivation system now supports the following calculation chains:

  • Q factors: Qts ↔ Qms + Qes (any two derives the third)
  • Geometry: Sd ↔ Dd (diameter to area and vice versa)
  • Compliance: Cms from Vas + Sd, or from Fs + Mms
  • Mass: Mms from Fs + Cms
  • Motor: Bl from Re + Qes + Mms + Fs
  • Damping: Rms from Qms + Mms + Fs

This allows users to enter commonly available specifications and have the simulator automatically calculate the remaining parameters needed for accurate simulation.

Version 0.3.1

January 11, 2026

Overview

This release adds support for multiple identical drivers in a single enclosure configuration, allowing users to simulate dual subwoofers and other multi-driver setups.

New Features

Multiple Driver Support

  • Multiple Identical Drivers: Configure any number of the same driver (1-10) in a single enclosure
  • Automatic Parameter Combination: The simulator automatically combines driver parameters:
    • Total radiating area (Sd) scales with driver count
    • Total power handling (Pe) scales with driver count
    • Parallel resistance (Re) calculated correctly for multiple drivers
    • SPL increases by +6dB per doubling (coherent addition)
  • Simple UI: Select a driver and specify the number of drivers with a single input field
  • Combined Specs Display: View combined driver specifications in the configuration panel

Technical Details

When multiple identical drivers are configured:

  • Sd (radiating area): Multiplied by driver count
  • Pe (power handling): Multiplied by driver count
  • Re (DC resistance): Divided by driver count (parallel connection)
  • Vd (volume displacement): Multiplied by driver count
  • All other T/S parameters remain unchanged (same driver)

This allows accurate simulation of dual subwoofer setups, multi-driver arrays, and other configurations where multiple identical drivers share the same enclosure.
