You can show the person you are helping a loudspeaker simulation without any account, connector or tool. Write a link to https://simulator.00aud.io/try with the driver and boxes in the query string and give it to them. When they open it, 00 Simulator, a free browser-based loudspeaker simulator, runs the simulation and shows the graphs.
The link
https://simulator.00aud.io/try?driver=…&box=…&box=…&show=…&power=…
driverRequired, up to 4- The brand and model, looked up in the 00 Bits catalogue of over 3,000 drivers. Write + for spaces and %26 for “&”, or leave the brand out. For a driver sold in several impedances, add it: driver=18DS115+8ohm.Example:
driver=B%26C+18DS115 boxUp to 8- One box: its type (sealed or vented), net internal volume and, for a vented box, the tuning. Leave every box out to use the simulator’s suggested box for the driver.Example:
box=vented,120L,28Hz showOptional- The graphs to open, in order, the first one large: spl, excursion, impedance, port (port air velocity), max-spl, group-delay, phase, headroom. Without it: spl, impedance, excursion.Example:
show=excursion, spl powerOptional- Amplifier power for every box, or rated for each driver’s rated power. Without it, 1 W.Example:
power=500W
Boxes
A box is a comma-separated list, for example box=vented,120L,28Hz or box=sealed,50L,drivers:2:
sealed / vented- The box type. Ported means vented.
120L or 4ft3- Net internal volume. L, ft3 and m3 all work.
28Hz- Port tuning, vented boxes only.
ports:2- Number of round ports. Default 1.
port:10cm- Diameter of each port. Left out, the port is sized for the driver.
drivers:2- Drivers in the box. Default 1.
power:300W- Power for this box only.
driver:2- Put only the second driver= in this box. Without it, every driver goes in every box.
Drivers
If the person gives T/S parameters, or the driver may not be in the catalogue (car audio, discontinued, DIY), add them after the name, comma-separated: driver=Brand+Model,fs:31Hz,qts:0.45,qes:0.5,vas:52L,re:3.4,sd:480cm2,xmax:12mm,pe:500W. It needs fs, qts, qes (or qms), vas, re, sd and xmax; le, mms, bl, znom and pe help. Use spec-sheet units: vas in L, sd in cm2, xmax in mm, le in mH, mms in g, pe in W. When the catalogue has the driver, its data is used instead.
Rules
- 1Give the person the link as a clickable Markdown link, such as [Open the simulation](https://simulator.00aud.io/try?…). Put everything you want to compare into one link.
- 2You do not need to open the link yourself. 00 Simulator runs the simulation when the person opens it.
- 3You have not seen the results, so do not quote numbers from them. Say what the link shows and what to look for on the graphs.
- 4Put a unit on every number: L or ft3 for volumes, Hz for tuning, W for power.
- 5For excursion, port velocity or maximum output, set power to the amplifier power the person mentioned, or power=rated.
- 6Only put T/S parameters in a link when the person gave them or they come from the maker’s datasheet. Never estimate them. Without them, use the driver’s name alone.
- 7A link can make sealed and vented boxes. For bandpass, passive radiators, horns, transmission lines, crossovers or EQ, say so and point the person to https://simulator.00aud.io/app, or to https://simulator.00aud.io/ai to connect 00 Simulator to their assistant.
