# Metrics

> Rank visible designs by one measure, choose a frequency or band, and understand what a winning number does and does not establish.

Source: https://simulator.00aud.io/docs/reference/tiles/metrics

Metrics answers one comparison question at a time. Choose the quantity that matters, then see the visible designs ranked by it.

- **Shows:** Visible designs ranked by one selected measure, at a frequency or over a band when applicable.
- **Healthy when:** The measure and band match your goal, and you compare designs at appropriate drive and environment settings.
- **If it is not:** Choose another measure or band, then inspect the curves behind the ranking.

## The tile

Choose a measure in the tile’s menu. Point measures add a frequency field; band measures add start and end frequencies. **Higher wins** or **Lower wins** tells you the ranking direction. Rows show the result and difference from the best value; click a row to select its design.

Only visible enclosures participate. Missing or unavailable quantities are left unranked. F3 and F10 come from the simulation summary, so custom reference settings in the SPL tile do not alter these rows.

## Choose a measure

| Measure | Where it is read | Ranking |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **F3 (-3 dB)** | From the whole-response summary | Lower wins |
| **F10 (-10 dB)** | From the whole-response summary | Lower wins |
| **SPL at frequency** | At your chosen frequency | Higher wins |
| **Max SPL at frequency** | At your chosen frequency | Higher wins |
| **Group delay at frequency** | At your chosen frequency | Lower wins |
| **Average SPL over band** | Across your chosen band | Higher wins |
| **Peak Xmax use over band** | Across your chosen band | Lower wins |
| **Peak port velocity over band** | Across your chosen band | Lower wins |
| **Peak PR excursion over band** | Across your chosen band | Lower wins |
| **Minimum impedance over band** | Across your chosen band | Higher wins |
| **First port resonance** | From the whole-response summary | Higher wins |

## A ranking answers only its chosen question

The same sealed-example driver at 1 W, half space, 1 m. Values are simulated when the page is built.

| Sealed example volume | F3 | F10 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 7.5 L | 65.9 Hz | 40.9 Hz |
| 15.0 L | 62.2 Hz | 33.8 Hz |
| 30.0 L | 63.9 Hz | 30.1 Hz |

A larger box may rank better for extension while costing cabinet space and cone travel. Change the measure to Xmax use or maximum output in your band before deciding. Ordinary SPL also depends on each design’s power and EQ, so check those before treating a higher row as a more efficient design.

## What to try

| Try | What it changes |
| --- | --- |
| Choose the useful band | Use a band measure to compare only the frequencies the speaker will play. |
| [Check the trade-off](https://simulator.00aud.io/docs/guides/compare) | Compare extension, maximum output and Xmax use; winning one row does not mean winning all three. |

## Ask your AI

**Ask your AI**

> Using 00 Simulator, compare the visible designs in my workspace for F3, average SPL and maximum Xmax use over my intended passband. State the power and EQ used for each and explain the trade-offs before recommending one.
