# Import and export

> Move designs in and out of 00 Simulator: .00sim projects, WinISD projects and drivers, Hornresp records, measurements and other workspaces.

Source: https://simulator.00aud.io/docs/guides/import-export

Files go in and out through **Export**, the download icon in the header. It saves and opens `.00sim` project files, takes boxes to WinISD and horns to Hornresp, and brings in WinISD projects, measurements and enclosures from your other workspaces. Drivers have their own files, in the component library.

_Figure: The Export menu open under the download icon in the header. Export: Hornresp… (.txt), WinISD… (.wpr), 00sim project… (.00sim) and Measured trace…. Import: Open 00sim project… (replaces), WinISD…, From another workspace… and Measured trace… (.txt .frd .zma .csv)._

The **Export** menu in a signed-in workspace with a horn and a measured trace. An item that needs something the workspace lacks is greyed out or missing.

**Export**
- **Hornresp…** (`.txt`; reads “needs a horn” until the workspace has one)
- **WinISD…** (`.wpr`)
- **00sim project…** (`.00sim`)
- **Measured trace…** (when the workspace has measurements)

**Import**
- **Open 00sim project…** (replaces the open design)
- **WinISD…**
- **From another workspace…** (signed in)
- **Measured trace…** (`.txt`, `.frd`, `.zma`, `.csv`)

## Which file for what

In this table **Export** › is the header’s **Export** menu. Its top half writes files, and the items under its **Import** heading read them.

| File | Holds | Out | In |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 00sim project, `.00sim` | A whole design: enclosures, drivers, measurements, graph notes and tiles | **Export** › **00sim project…** | **Export** › **Open 00sim project…**, or **Import** on **Workspaces** |
| WinISD project, `.wpr` | One box with its driver and filters | **Export** › **WinISD…** | **Export** › **WinISD…**, or **Import** on **Workspaces** |
| Hornresp record, `.txt` | A horn, as native Hornresp records | **Export** › **Hornresp…** | Not read |
| Driver, `.00dvr` or WinISD `.wdr` | One driver | **Settings** › **Drivers…** › **Export** | **Settings** › **Drivers…** › **Import** |
| Passive radiator, `.00prd` | One passive radiator | **Settings** › **Passive radiators…** › **Export** | **Settings** › **Passive radiators…** › **Import** |
| Unibox workbook, `.xlsx` | Enclosures, drivers and passive radiators | Not written | **Settings** › **Drivers…** › **Import** › **Unibox (.xlsx)** |
| Measurement, `.txt` `.frd` `.zma` `.csv` | One measured trace | **Export** › **Measured trace…** | **Export** › **Measured trace…** |

> **While your assistant is working** While an AI assistant is editing the workspace through the connector, design edits wait and the imports are greyed out. **Take control** hands the workspace back to you.

## 00sim project files

A `.00sim` file is 00 Simulator’s own format and keeps everything: the enclosures with their drivers and passive radiators, every measured trace and graph note, the radiation space and listening distance, the tiles and their layout, and your units. Use it for backups, to move a design between accounts, or to keep a guest project without signing in.

| To | Do this |
| --- | --- |
| Save some enclosures | **Export** › **00sim project…** opens **Export 00sim project**. Untick the enclosures to leave out and press **Export** for `project.00sim`. |
| Save a whole workspace | On **Workspaces**, open a workspace’s ⋯ menu and choose **Export .00sim**. The file takes the workspace’s name. |
| Keep a guest project | **Save** beside **Guest project** opens **Save this project**, and **Download .00sim** saves it. |
| Open one in a new workspace | On **Workspaces**, **Import** reads a `.00sim` or `.wpr` file into a new workspace and opens it. |
| Open one here | **Export** › **Open 00sim project…** (marked **replaces**) swaps the open design for the file’s: enclosures, measurements, notes, tiles, environment and units. |

> **Opening a file here replaces what is open** To keep the current design, open the file from **Workspaces** instead, where it becomes a workspace of its own.

Drivers in a file that match one you already have, by brand, model and T/S values, are used as they are. Others join your drivers, with “(Imported)” after the name when it is already taken by a different driver.

## WinISD

The WinISD items in the **Export** menu work with WinISD’s `.wpr` project files, one box each. The same item name appears twice: under **Export** it writes files, under **Import** it reads one.

### Export to WinISD

**Export** › **WinISD…** opens **Export WinISD project**, marked Beta. Tick the enclosures and press **Export**: you get a `.zip` with one `.wpr` file per enclosure. Anything simplified or left out is listed when the download starts.

| In 00 Simulator | In the .wpr |
| --- | --- |
| Sealed, Vented, Bandpass 4, Bandpass 6 | The same box type |
| Passive radiator loading, and horns | Skipped, with a warning |
| High-pass and low-pass filters | Kept, with the same order and cut-off. An alignment other than Butterworth is not kept, with a warning |
| Parametric EQ and Linkwitz transform | Kept |
| Shelf filters, and filters switched off | Left out |
| A series capacitor | Left out, with a warning: WinISD cannot model one |

### Import from WinISD

- **Export** › **WinISD…** under **Import** reads one `.wpr` file and adds its box beside your enclosures, selected. Nothing already there changes.
- The new enclosure takes the project’s description as its name, or the file name. Sealed, vented, fourth-order and sixth-order bandpass boxes come in as themselves; any other box type comes in as vented, with a warning.
- High-pass, low-pass, parametric EQ and Linkwitz transform filters come with it. Other filter types are skipped, with a warning.
- The project’s driver comes too, matched to one of yours or added as described above.

For single WinISD drivers, use the `.wdr` files under [Drivers and passive radiators](#drivers-and-radiators). [The WinISD comparison](https://simulator.00aud.io/validation/winisd) shows how closely the two programs agree on the same boxes.

## Hornresp

**Export** › **Hornresp…** opens **Export Hornresp projects** once the workspace has a horn. Pick the horns and download a `.zip` of native Hornresp records with import instructions. Hornresp files cannot be opened in 00 Simulator. [Hornresp export and validation](https://simulator.00aud.io/docs/horns/hornresp#export) covers what each horn type becomes and what carries over.

## Drivers and passive radiators

**Settings** › **Drivers…** opens the **Component library**. On your own list of drivers:

- **Export** opens **Export drivers**. Choose the format, **00 Audio driver** (`.00dvr`) or **WinISD driver** (`.wdr`, Beta), tick the drivers (your own start ticked) and press **Export** for one file per driver.
- **Import** › **Driver file (.wdr, .00dvr)** (Beta) reads both formats, several files at once.
- **Import** › **Unibox (.xlsx)** opens **Import from Unibox**, which brings in the enclosures, drivers and passive radiators in a Unibox workbook.
- **Settings** › **Passive radiators…** does the same for passive radiators, in 00 Simulator’s own `.00prd` format only.

Creating, pasting and editing drivers is in [Drivers: find, create, import](https://simulator.00aud.io/docs/guides/drivers).

## Measurements

**Export** › **Measured trace…** under **Import** reads REW text exports, `.frd`, `.zma` and `.csv` files, several at once. Under **Export**, **Measured trace…** lists the workspace’s traces and saves one: impedance as `.zma`, Max SPL as `.csv` and the rest as `.frd`. [Measured traces and notes](https://simulator.00aud.io/docs/guides/measurements) covers importing, aligning and comparing them.

## From another workspace

Signed in, **Export** › **From another workspace…** opens **Import from workspace**. It copies enclosures from one of your other workspaces into this one.

1. **Find the workspace.** Pick it from the list on the left, or type in **Search workspaces…**.
2. **Tick the enclosures.** Its enclosures load on the right, all ticked. **Select all** and **Clear** help with long lists.
3. **Import them.** The **Import** button counts the enclosures it will copy. Their boxes, drivers and EQ come across; this workspace keeps its own environment and tiles.

To send enclosures the other way, select them in the enclosure list, right-click, and choose **Copy to workspace** or **Move to workspace**.

## From a shared link

A shared design has **Files** on its bar: **Project file** (`.00sim`), **WinISD project** (`.wpr`) and **Driver records** (`.wdr`). **Import** puts the whole design in your account or your browser: [Open a shared design](https://simulator.00aud.io/docs/guides/sharing#open-a-shared-design).

## Ask your AI

**Ask your AI**

Your assistant can import measurements and compare them with the simulation through the 00 Simulator connector. Project files and WinISD exports stay in the app’s **Export** menu.

> Using 00 Simulator, import the REW measurement I paste below into my open workspace, link it to the enclosure it measures, and compare it with that enclosure’s simulation from 30 to 200 Hz: tell me the level offset and where the two differ most.
